Populating components Diagrid Box [Grasshopper]

Many of us have probably used the popular method of proliferating a component over surface using the box surface and box morphing components which actually is very useful , however it has the limitation that you can only arrange your components in a quadrangular grid and there maybe sometimes we need a different arrange or sequence for populating our surfaces, last weekend I was talking about this with Marysol Kraviez a student of the DIA Master at Dessau of and she send me a discussion from the Grasshopper page of people addressing this problem, I found very good and interesting approaches and I decided to make a  small contribution by making a definition based on one that I saw over there for creating box surfaces in a diagrid arrange using a VB script I have used for other works, hope you find it useful.

As always you can find more about this project and the definition for download at my  SITE

Waffle Ribs:Rhino Grasshopper

Yes ! the classic waffle structures , I think this kind of definitions are very useful specially to those starting in their way of parametric design and of course Grasshopper, they have a wide range of applications that can go from architectural projects to conceptual furniture like this quick example I made. Check it out here.

Collaboration with Arkylab Mexico

Currently I am collaborating with Arkylab a Mexican architecture studio working on a proposal for an industrial eco park Im helping generating computational geometies for the project using recusive and subdivision algorithms we still at a conceptual development stage.
Here is a quick low quality render.

parametric patterns

This is a quick experiment developed in grasshopper for making parametric field patterns the intention of this study was to identify and interconnect different parameters that allowed to form complex patterns on surfaces , this experiment may have different applications for various design purposes like urban landscaping for example. Any questions regarding this project please contact me.

Responsive Geometry

This series of of cilinders have a parametric behavior pattern, they change the sacle of the circle base profile and the extrusion lenght according the distance between each cilinder and a point that has a daylight trayectory.

parametric tower builder

My version of a parametric tower mass builder made in grasshopper based on a tutorial I found at http://designreform.net/2008/05/29/rhino-tower-massing-with-explicit-and-implicit-history/ check it out.

grasshopper 2 surface frame

Recntly i have been playing around with the rhino plug in called Grasshopper wich before was called Explcit History ,Grasshopper still in development but the results you can achieve already are amazing, the visual worksapce its easy to understand and to use. Here are some images of a space frame from two surfaces.
