Collaboration with Arkylab Mexico

Currently I am collaborating with Arkylab a Mexican architecture studio working on a proposal for an industrial eco park Im helping generating computational geometies for the project using recusive and subdivision algorithms we still at a conceptual development stage.

Finally the new designplaygrounds is here !!

Finally after many months of waiting I fianlly got the time to make an official website even do making this blog for the past year has been a great experience I thin its time to present my work in a more professional way, also I made the site to stay in touch with all the people who kindly visit my work I really worked hard implementing tools from different social media like : Twitter , Facebook, Didd , Stumble Upon etc.. all of the just to hear and share what you have to say.

Im also going to feature the work from other people so if you are making some interesting stuff please send it to me so i can show your work, Im working in some tutorials people keep asking me most of them regarding grashopper i think the new site will be an excellent plataform to distribute them.

Studio Banana collaboration

Last weekend I went to Madrid to visit the guys of Studio Banana and to give an introduction class of Parametric Design using Grasshoper for the students who attended the Rhinoceros Workshop of the studio, I had a great time visiting the studio and the people who works there.And I had the opportuniy to teach the studnets about the benefits of implementig parametric systems into their designs.

Processing Warm Up

After several weeks i finally was able to find some time this weekend to play again with processing
scince I got here to barcelona I have been very busy finding a place to live ,giving a lecture and organizing a workshop among other things.
This is a quick sketch I made for practice purposses here are some images generated by tweaking some of the parameters I wanted to post a video to show how its generated but currently at home I just have a very old pc and I cant record video I will use this skecth for a more complex application using traer physics library also I would like to implement some functionality with audio I hope to find some space the to work on this on the next days.

Yesterday I went to give a presentation at the ESARQ to the students of the master of Biodigital architecture , recently they have been introduced to the world of rhinoscript and grashopper , so they invited my to talk about my work and ideas about scripting and digital fabrication i would like to thank Ernesto Bueno profesor and researcher and Alberto Esteves director of the master for the invitation.

Video Tutorial

Yesterday I made quick video tutorial to show the participants of the workshop one of the exercises we can make during the course, you can see the tutorial from youtube at this link it´s in spanish but i think that with very little experience with grasshopper should be easy to understand just from watching.Any questions please let a comment.

Processing graphics

Now that i´m back into production mode I decided to keep on with my learning and research of processing, this time y made some simple sketches to generate this graphics, loading some .png images and transforming polar coordinates to Cartesian which are the ones processing can understand this is my first attempt to generate some digital prints i´m looking forward improving the quality and complexity of them.

Rhino Grasshopper Wrokshop

Lately haven´t post anything new because I have been away from the computer for a couple of weeks planing my trip to Barcelona , just until yesterday i took again my PC and started to use the last version of the WIP Grasshopper for Rhino and even do it is at its 0.5 version the functionality of it its amazing i can´t wait to see what it will be capable of once the 1.0 is ready, i have been playing around with the Bounding Box and Morph Box components and i have found them very useful , here is a quick render of an excercise i did for a Workshop I am planing to give before i go to Spain.

parametric structure exercise

The other day i was watching some documentaries of Calatravas´s work ,suddenly I took a piece of paper start doing some lines then I passed them into rhino , made a Grasshopper definition and here are some of the results i got, its amazing what you can achieve by using parametric systems in terms of variability and speed of design all the models shown here were made in just a couple of hours once I got my definition made It allowed me to control de radius of the diferent srtucture parts as well as the number of sections among some other things,if you want to understand better the process I went trough please watch this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBrZoQm_Ln8

Augmented reality made in Processing

This is an augmented reality exercise application i made using Processing and J Myron library, i was able to track a specific color from the video stream and then mix it with a code i wrote for generating some random particles. Will keep up my research in order to achieve more complex interactivity perhaps using audio next time.
